Fashion Fridays: Rockabilly!!!

There is something to be said for the retro look. It seems that fashion was so on pointe. Today I'm covering a growing trend, Rockabilly style. What is rockabilly? Well it's a music type that was prevalent in the 50's. A mixture of blue grass, country, and rock and roll. (Rock and roll + hillbilly= rockabilly)  Now, in terms of fashion, think Victory rolls, swing skirts, nipped in waists, and capris!  I love this style, it's fun, it's flirty, and it hides flaws! That's right, that nipped in waistline is very figure flattering. I love love love the bathing suits too. I used to pride myself on my hourglass figure, only now all the sand is at the bottom. Ha ha ha! Check out this swim suit!  Adorable!!!

You can purchase here : http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/bettie-swim-ol.html

They have more than just swimsuits, check out their swing dresses and capris!

Another great place to shop on line is retro-vintage.com.  Look at this darling party dress!!

Glasses: don't be afraid of color!

In the last post on Nerd Girls Have All The Fun: Glasses, I'm going to cover color. Glasses are another accessory, so don't be afraid of color! Color can make a statement. Are you fun? Flirty? Serious? Let your glasses tell a story! Some frame designers use lots of bold colors. Check out these adorable hot pink ones by guess!

Boom! Guess has a lot of variety in color and shape. Another one with variety and color is Vera Wang.

Ignore the bird and focus on me! Yes I'm fabulous. Like the glasses? They're blue and purple!

Color can be fund and exciting! It can also give that extra something to your wardrobe. Another great designer is Lisa Loeb. Yes, that Lisa from the 90's with that song. You say, you wanna look at my glasses? Check out her stuff!

Fashion Fridays!

New feature- well maybe. We'll see how it goes. Anyway, in case you hadn't already seen my billion post on being pregnant, today's fashion tip is on how to hide a pregnancy you're not ready to reveal yet. Readers, you don't count because you are all close family and already know. Besides, there's like what, 4 of you?

So, how do you hide a pregnancy for a bit? Well, you can try this obvious, which is baggy clothes. I don't recommend this method because it looks trashy. You can also try wearing your regular clothes with a belly band. A belly band looks like a tube top for your belly. You can wear your regular pants unzipped with this. This is not recommended because you look overweight.  What I found that works is the trifecta: maternity clothes, oversized purse, sweater. That's right, maternity clothes. Why? Because they're loose where they need to be at this time, and no one will notice. Plus you'll be hella comfy.  The oversized bag? Well, one, you have the excuse to shop for a new bag, and two, if you have a big bag no one will notice what you're hiding underneath. The same can be said for a sweater. Toss it on and viola! You're covered up by its bulk. Cardigans also work. It's not so much as disguising the burgeoning bump as it is distracting from it and diverting focus elsewhere. For example, the chunkier the earrings the less likely people are going to look down. They'll be distracted by accessories!
Now go out and look fabulous!

Book Review Shoes A Reluctant Fairy Tale by Elizabeth A Reeves

This book was soooo cute. Grace is an awkward girl. She receives a mysterious package in the mail, and it's a fabulous pair of shoes.

This was an easy, light, read. It was just adorable. It also made some suprisingly feminist points that were dead on. I'd give it a billion stars, but my scale only goes to 5.
