Glasses: don't be afraid of color!

In the last post on Nerd Girls Have All The Fun: Glasses, I'm going to cover color. Glasses are another accessory, so don't be afraid of color! Color can make a statement. Are you fun? Flirty? Serious? Let your glasses tell a story! Some frame designers use lots of bold colors. Check out these adorable hot pink ones by guess!

Boom! Guess has a lot of variety in color and shape. Another one with variety and color is Vera Wang.

Ignore the bird and focus on me! Yes I'm fabulous. Like the glasses? They're blue and purple!

Color can be fund and exciting! It can also give that extra something to your wardrobe. Another great designer is Lisa Loeb. Yes, that Lisa from the 90's with that song. You say, you wanna look at my glasses? Check out her stuff!

Fashion Friday- reuse, repurpose, recycle

It's been a while since I fashioned fridayed, and I'm here with a continuation of Glasses, why should need girls have all the fun.
Have a bunch of frames you don't know what to do with? Don't worry, I have some suggestions.
Reuse: Your frames are still in good shape? Take them to your optical and have your new prescription put in them. It will save you some money, and prolong your frames. You can always add some transitional lenses to them too! Or, they can make an excellent back up pair.
Repurpose: found a pair from junior high that is straight out of the 80's? Pop those all lenses out, and viola! Authentic 80's Halloween costume accessory!
Recycle: Did you know that some charities will collect your old glasses for the impoverished? Check with you local eye doctor for the organizations. The Lian's Club is one.

Don't let your old glasses take up space! De clutter those bad boys and find a use!

Fashion Friday's- finding the vintage eye Frame

For part two of Glasses aren't Just for Nerds, we are going to explore the vintage glasses frame.

Did you know you can buy frames and bring them to your eye place? Yes, most of them will put your prescription in a pair of frames you bring in. (Call your provided just to be sure though). If you're in the mood for something retro and fabulous, then try resale shops, estate sales, and my favorite, Etsy.  I found the most unusual pair of retro glasses there. Check it out!

Super neat right? Etsy has amazing finds. Check this out:

Cat eye not your thing? How about Horn rims?

Now, you want 80's? Look at these! Ah memories...

I can feel the shoulder pads!

To make sure these looked good on my face, I measured the width of my current frames and compared to the width of these.  Make sure they'll fit your face!

Next week: transitions and why they're awesome.

Fashion Fridays! Who says glasses have to be nerdy?

Good morning, readers! You know last year my eye doctor the awesome Dr. Lam discovered that my eyes, much like the rest of me, are lazy. Luckily, my vision can be corrected with prisms in my lenses. Sadly, that means no contacts anymore. Embrace the four eyes, I say! Glasses can be super fun! They are another accessory and should be treated thusly. I have so much to say about glasses that this may take a few Friday posts- so be warned!

The first thing about glasses is to make sure those babies look good on you. You don't want to wear something that looks awful. What frames look best with you face shape? Knowing which style frames will look good will help you find the perfect pair.

The wrong size frames can be terrible. Case and point:

Clearly, these babies are much too big. But that's ok! Try, try, again!

Protip: selfies are your friend in this situation. I can't see without glasses. Seriously, I'm like Velma from Scooby-Doo. So, in order to make sure it all looks good, I take a selfie.  I may have a billion pictures of myself in different frames, but at least I'm not paying a lot of money for something that ends up looking terrible. Like this:

That color though! Gorgeous! Too bad for me they look like joke glasses.

Next week: Go Retro! Exploring the vintage frame.
