Why you should be watching Another Period.

Recently, Michael Eisner, the former CEO of Disney, made the comment that most women can't be beautiful and funny.

News flash! Phillis Diller, Joan Rivers, Carole Burnette, Lucy Ricardo, Tina Fey, Amy Pholer, just to name a few.

So now we have a tv show written by two very funny, very smart, very beautiful women- Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome. This show is a hybrid of satire, reality TV, and period drama. Better yet, it's hilarious!

I tried to recap it- but I just can't do the show justice. It's too brilliant for words. The characters are ones you love to hate, you root for them even though they're truly awful people.

And the Snoop Dog theme song? Well, that's just a sweet sweet bonus.

Another Period S1 ep1 recap ... A week late. Oops!

In this episode we are introduced to the Bellacourts. Set in 1902, There are the parents, the Commodore and his wife, Dodo. Then there are their children, Lillian and Beatrice, the two sisters that strive to be famous. The eldest sister, Hortense, aka hore (whore)  and the son, Fredrick.

Beatrice and Lillian are married to Albert and Victor who are gay lovers. Beatrice is having an affair with her brother, Fredrick.

Beatrice and Lillian's friends have died and now there are two spots open in the top 400 important people of the U.S.  The Marquis de Salisbury is coming to judge them worthy.  Hortense in an effort to sabotage their efforts, had invited Hellen Keller and Annie Sullivan, the most famous women in America over at the same time. They bust out the cocaine wine, but Annie, Helen, and Hore are members of the temperance league. Since it's mostly cocaine, they deemed it drinkable.  After a sister pus drinking game a fight breaks out. "I didn't know what was going on, but I knew I wanted to stab someone,"- Beatrice.  The Marquis leaves with Annie and Helen.

Now the servants.
Mr. Peepers- the butler
Blanche- she's just been released from the aslyum.
Chair- the new maid. She was given the name chair by Beatrice. She is having an affair with the Commodore.

This show is comedy gold!

Another Period- on Comedy Central

So- there's this new show on Comedy Central called Another Period. No, it's not about menstration. What it is about is a rich family called the Bellacourts. These are terrible terrible people. They're just the worst and I love everything about this show. This is satire at its best. Think Downton Abbey + reality TV set in 1902. Yes. It is brilliant.  I'll be recapping the pilot later.

And this pic was on their Twitter feed. Love it!!!
